Choresmiths case study

Professional handyman from the neighborhood? Yes, at one’s fingertips – in the app.

Retail & Marketplace

An application that helps connect local handymen with citizens in need seems nothing new. But there’s a lot more in this case. The Choresmiths app helps create and strengthen the bonds within the local community. Our solution provides the opportunities for handymen and their clients to find each other and contribute to the local environment with their skills. As this mobile app is for the Nigerian startup, we knew they required a well-performing, elaborate system that doesn’t need a lot of space and memory to work efficiently.

Client partnership goals

Apart from the need to craft a complete platform (an app for clients, an app for handymen and an administration panel), we had to build first the whole business logic of the product. Then we could move to the three key elements of the platform, to make it with a design and quality assurance process to meet the business objectives. And that’s what we did.

Project

Making an app that works with older mobile phones and with low Internet bandwidth in the XXI century? Yes, here it is.

House renovation, gardening – it’s obvious that the handyman should be professional in performing the duties. It’s easier to create an app that connects people with specialists here, in Europe. But the reality in Nigeria is slightly different – in terms of having access to the modern mobile phones and access to the Internet. Our main goal was to build an app that wouldn’t need too many hardware resources but would still look good aesthetically and work fast. We started with forging the business logic of the product. Then, we could proceed with building three crucial parts of the platform.

Challenges we overcome

Low Internet bandwidth and not-so-modern mobile phones – this means limitations. But we love challenges. We went beyond expectations.

The greatest challenge was to craft a digital product that is both compatible with older hardware (yes, the mobile phones) and meets the security standards, without consuming an excessive amount of device’s memory. Back in the days, mobile phones had much less operational resources, and that was the factor we had to take into consideration. But hey, there is no ‘impossible’ for our expert players. We forged a digital product that works efficiently under these tough conditions.

Solution

Finding a reliable plumber, gardener, or any other professional handyman in the neighborhood in Nigeria is like a walk in the park now.

Android apps for both clients and contractors that work on older devices? That’s done. The admin panel? This one is done as well. All these crafted meticulously to make it intuitive to use, visually attractive, and device’s memory-consumption-friendly. Not only we take care of the design part, but we also managed to make it compliant with the highest security standards. We also implemented SMS notifications for offline users, as well as offline data storage.

Results

Our client is fully satisfied with our work and the digital products are evolving. Of course, we have the numbers – and we are proud of them.

“The Human-App Interaction is something entirely new in comparison to other language learning tools. The most challenging part was to make this new approach obvious and intuitive for the end users.”
